“One in ten children starting primary school in England is obese and by the time they leave that figure has increased to one in five – that’s a statistic that just fills me with horror.”
“I just love, love, love my job! I get to see children learn, grow and develop – what could be better than that?”
Amanda is passionate about two things – fitness and children. And when I say passionate, I really mean it! She oozes enthusiasm and energy and it really is infectious. Combine that with a love of song, dance and small children and it’s easy to see why her Action Club classes and parties are such a success.
Amanda’s been described as a ‘Pied Piper’ and when you see her in action, it’s easy to see why. She has a unique way of captivating her audience and her energy and charisma is infectious.
Amanda believes children should be active, but also believes they should be allowed to express themselves and develop at their own pace, as every child is unique. Her aim is to ignite a passion for fitness, exercise and movement - not only in children, but in parents too. And, like Jamie Oliver and his school dinners, she’s determined to champion this cause.
“Children should be allowed to be children – to show free expression, dance, sing, let off steam and learn at their own pace.”
Amanda was known as ‘sport billy’ at school as she excelled in so many sports and won all the medals going! This led her on to a career in the sport and leisure industry and she juggled managing a large London sports centre with running her Action Club sessions.
Amanda was inspired to set up her classes after attending a music and movement training course whilst working in the leisure industry. She put into practice everything she learnt and discovered that she had a natural affinity with young children.
In 2002, due to massive demand, she decided to concentrate full time on running Action Club sessions.
Action Club has grown and our team of hosts run sessions in many children's centres , nurseries and playcentres across London.
Expansion for Amanda’s Action Club is continuing apace. Action Club is now available as a franchise so her parties and classes format can reach a wider audience.
Amanda has been described by a leading parenting website as a ‘Female Pied Piper’ as she has such an amazing way of capturing childrens attention.
The government initiative Sure Start were so impressed with the educational value of Amanda sessions that a number of West London Sure Starts asked her to run sessions, special events and physical development training courses.
Amanda children’s parties are a speciality and she has entertained for many children of celebrities from the music, film and TV industries including the Beckhams, Mark Owen and Amanda Holden, to name a few.
